A brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit on the Honda CB and CBX four cylinder range built between 1979 and 1985. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, so installation is easy and no assembly is required. The unit uses a higher grade of electric components than the original part and the quality exceeds the OEM equipment. Every regulator is tested before it is shipped.
Electrically the unit holds a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V, keeps the open circuit voltage below 15 V and will handle up to 50 A / 500 W of charging current, with an operating range of -20 C to 85 C. How can I tell my old unit has failed?
Look for a battery that will not hold charge, a charging voltage at the battery that never reaches about 14.5 V or that rises past 15 V, lights that brighten and dim with engine speed, and a regulator that becomes extremely hot. Melted or discoloured connector pins are a strong sign the unit and its plug both need replacing.
Why is a second connector supplied?
The harness side connector on these Hondas is frequently melted, corroded or defective and is a major cause of repeat electrical issues. Fitting the supplied connector at the same time as the regulator renews the complete joint rather than leaving a new part wired into a damaged plug.
