What is included in the box?
The voltage regulator rectifier unit and the opposite connector for the main harness side. The second connector is included because the original harness plug is frequently melted or corroded by the time the regulator itself gives up.
How do I know my old regulator has failed?
Start the engine and measure across the battery terminals. A healthy charging system should reach at least 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V. If the voltage stays at battery resting level nothing is being charged; if it rises well beyond 15 V the regulator is overcharging. Browned or melted pins in the four-way plug are a further sign.
Do I have to fit the supplied connector?
Not necessarily. If your existing harness plug is clean, undamaged and makes a firm connection you can reuse it. If there is any browning, corrosion or a loose pin, fit the supplied connector at the same time, otherwise the fault will return.
