Honda GL 1200 Goldwing LTD / SEI - 1985 and 1986

Part RM30701 is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Honda GL 1200 Goldwing LTD and SEI of 1985 and 1986. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit: two plugs carrying eight pins and eight wires match the factory layout, and the fixation holes are 75 mm centre to centre so the unit bolts onto the standard mounting point without modification or assembly.

The GL 1200 LTD and SEI carried a heavy electrical load for their era, with fuel injection, on-board computer, air suspension and full audio all drawing from the same charging circuit. That makes the regulator rectifier a particularly hard-worked component on these two model years, and a common source of charging complaints as the bikes age. This replacement converts the alternator output to direct current and holds it at a controlled level, protecting both the battery and the electronics downstream of it.

RMSTATOR build the unit with higher grade electrical components and an improved heat sink, giving better heat dissipation and charging capability than the original specification, and state that the quality exceeds the OEM equipment. An additional connector for the main harness side is supplied with the unit, because these connectors are frequently found melted, corroded or defective and are a recurring cause of electrical faults that survive a regulator change.
