This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier, supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Honda CB 600, CBR 1100, NSS 250, VFR 750 Interceptor and VT 750 Shadow across model years 1990 to 2007. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, mounting on the original fixings at 65 mm centre to centre and connecting through the original single five-pin plug, so it goes on without assembly and without any change to the wiring.
The unit measures 85 mm by 85 mm by 25 mm and carries an improved heat sink with improved charging capabilities, built with a higher grade of electric components, so the quality exceeds the OEM equipment it replaces. It regulates to a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at up to 35 A or 400 W, and keeps the open circuit voltage under 15 V. All products shipped are tested. How do I tell whether my old regulator has failed?
Measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running and warm. It should reach at least 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V without exceeding 15 V. Anything much below that will leave the battery flat within a few rides; anything above it will boil the battery and take out bulbs. Melted or discoloured pins in the regulator plug are another common sign.
