Brand new voltage regulator for Johnson and Evinrude outboard engines from 10 HP up to 235 HP, covering models built between 1980 and 2001. This is the 3-wire version of the regulator rectifier. It is a plug-and-play unit, direct fit and easy to install, so the original three connections transfer straight across without any cutting, splicing or rewiring of the engine harness.
The unit is built with a higher grade of electric components than the original and the quality exceeds the OEM equipment. All products are tested before shipment. In service it maintains a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V, will pass a maximum charging current of 20 A / 150 W, holds open circuit voltage below 15 V and operates over a temperature range of -20°C to 85°C. The compact 34 x 62 x 28 mm case mounts on 49 mm centres with wire lengths of 127 mm and 131 mm. It replaces OEM part numbers 580765 and 580795.

How do I know my old regulator has failed?
With the engine running, a healthy system reads 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V at the battery. Salt corroded terminals in the same circuit will produce similar symptoms, so clean and test the connections before replacing the unit.
