Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Kawasaki Jet Ski 650 SX and 650 X2
1986-1991 · Replaces 21066-3703 and 21066-3702 · Part RMS020-102627
This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier for the Kawasaki Jet Ski 650 SX and 650 X2 built between 1986 and 1991. The regulator rectifier sits between the stator and the rest of the electrical system. It rectifies the alternating current coming out of the stator into direct current, and it regulates that output so the voltage reaching the battery and the ignition stays within safe limits however hard the engine is being revved. On a personal watercraft the unit has to do that job in a permanently damp environment, which is why regulators on these early Jet Ski models are a familiar failure point.
This replacement is a direct fit for the original unit. It is plug-and-play with easy installation and no assembly required, and it is built using a higher grade of electric components so the quality exceeds the original equipment. The six wire, six pin layout and the 45 mm fixation hole spacing match the factory part, so it mounts on the existing bracket and connects to the standard wiring without any splicing or adaptation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct fit for the Kawasaki Jet Ski 650 SX and 650 X2, with six wires, six pins and 45 mm fixation hole spacing matching the original. No assembly, drilling or rewiring is needed. Check 21066-3703 or 21066-3702 against the number on your original unit before ordering.
What is included?
One brand new voltage regulator rectifier. Mounting bolts and any bracket hardware are not included, so re-use the ones from your original unit.
How do I know the old regulator has failed?
Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should climb towards 14.5 V; a reading stuck near 12 V means nothing is being put back into the battery, and a reading over 15 V means the regulator has lost control of the output and is cooking the battery. Corroded or green pins, a burnt smell around the unit, or a case that is unusually hot after a short run all point to the same conclusion.
Why do these fail so often on a watercraft?
A regulator turns surplus charging output into heat, and on a Jet Ski that has to happen inside a damp engine bay where salt and moisture attack the terminals. The combination of heat cycling and corrosion is what finishes most units off, so it is worth cleaning the connections and making sure the new regulator is bolted down tight to its bracket, which is what carries the heat away.
