Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Kawasaki KLF 400 Bayou and KVF 400 Prairie
Kawasaki KLF 400 Bayou and KVF 400 Prairie - 1993 to 1999 - RMSTATOR RM30926
This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier for the Kawasaki KLF 400 Bayou and the KVF 400 Prairie built between 1993 and 1999. It is supplied under RMSTATOR part number RM30926 and is a direct replacement for the original Kawasaki unit, cross referencing to OEM number 21066-1078. Installation is plug and play and direct fit, using the single five pin plug the machine already has, so no assembly and no wiring modification is needed.
A regulator rectifier does two jobs. It rectifies the alternating current produced by the stator into the direct current the battery and lighting circuits need, and it regulates that output so the battery is charged properly rather than being starved or boiled. This replacement uses a higher grade of electrical components than the factory part, with an improved heat sink and improved charging capabilities, and its quality exceeds the OEM equipment. At 50 A / 500 W it has plenty of headroom for a working quad running lights and accessories. Dispatched from the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my Bayou or Prairie without modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement to your original unit with the same single plug and five pin arrangement, so it is plug and play with no assembly required and no wiring to alter. Confirm the number stamped on the regulator you are removing matches Kawasaki 21066-1078 before ordering.
What is included?
The voltage regulator rectifier itself, with six wires of 110 mm and its five pin plug, ready to connect. No additional hardware is listed for this item, so keep the original mounting bolts from the unit you are taking off.
How do I know my old regulator has failed?
Measure the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running. A healthy system should sit around 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V. If the reading never rises above resting battery voltage the unit is not charging. If it climbs well past 15 V it is no longer regulating and the battery is being overcharged, which shows up as gassing, a strong smell and a battery that needs topping up. Repeated flat batteries, dim or flickering lights and bulbs that keep blowing all point the same way.
Will the mounting holes line up with the original bracket?
The fixation holes are 66 mm apart centre to centre and the body measures 88 mm wide by 79 mm long by 27 mm high, matching the original mounting position on these machines. If your quad has been modified or the regulator has been relocated at some point, measure the hole spacing on the existing unit before ordering.
