Voltage Regulator Rectifier RM30W02 for Kawasaki KFX, KLF and KVF and Suzuki LTV 700

Kawasaki KFX 700 cc, KLF 300 cc, KVF 300 / 360 / 400 / 650 / 700 cc and Suzuki LTV 700 cc, 1999-2013

This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier, part number RM30W02, built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to Kawasaki KFX 700 cc, KLF 300 cc and KVF 300, 360, 400, 650 and 700 cc machines, and to the Suzuki LTV 700 cc, across the 1999 to 2013 model years. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, so no assembly is required before installation. The unit uses a higher grade of electrical components than the original part, with an improved heat sink and improved charging capability, and the quality exceeds the OEM equipment it replaces. Every unit shipped is tested.

Electrically the regulator delivers a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V, handles a maximum charging current of 50 A / 500 W, holds open circuit voltage below 15 V and operates from -20 C to 85 C. It uses two plugs with a combined eight pins and 200 mm wire leads. Please note that Kawasaki KLF 300 models from 1992 to 2004 were built with more than one possible regulator rectifier - the two parts available are the RM30W02 and the RM30401 - so compare the connectors and body of your original part before ordering. Before fitting, check the AC output of your stator, replace any burned or corroded connectors, check and repair any melted wiring, and use hi-temp dielectric grease on all connectors. Battery condition matters: no regulator can compensate for a weak or failing battery, so always start with a fully charged battery. Risk of electric shock - disconnect the battery before servicing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to modify my wiring to fit this regulator?

No. This is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement for the original unit, with two plugs and eight pins matching the factory connectors. No assembly is required. You should, however, replace any burned or corroded connectors and repair melted wiring before fitting.

My bike is a KLF 300 - is this definitely the right part?

Kawasaki KLF 300 models built from 1992 to 2004 were fitted with more than one possible regulator rectifier. The two parts available are the RM30W02 and the RM30401. Compare the body and connectors of your original unit against this part before ordering.

How do I know my old regulator rectifier has failed?

A healthy charging system should reach a minimum of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at the battery. Readings well below that, a battery that will not hold charge, or melted and discoloured connectors at the regulator all point to a failed unit. Check the AC output of the stator first, as a faulty stator can destroy a new regulator.

Will it cope with the load on a bigger KVF 650 or 700?

Yes. The unit handles a maximum charging current of 50 A / 500 W and holds open circuit voltage below 15 V, with an improved heat sink over the original part and an operating range from -20 C to 85 C.
