Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Kawasaki

Kawasaki KAF 300 / 620, KEF 300, KLF 300, KLR 650, Ninja 250 / 600 and VN 750 / 1500 - 1983-2020

This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier, supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted across a wide span of Kawasaki machines, from the KAF and KEF utility models through the KLF 300 Bayou, the KLR 650, the Ninja 250 and 600 and the VN 750 and 1500 cruisers. It is plug-and-play with no assembly required, so it drops straight onto the original mounting and connects to the existing harness. The manufacturer also lists this regulator against the Hyosung GT 250 and GV 250.

The unit is built with a higher grade of electrical components than the original equipment and every regulator is tested before it is shipped. It is supplied with the opposite connector, the main harness side, because that connector is a common failure point on these models and tends to melt or corrode over time. Electrically it holds a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V, handles a maximum charging current of 50 A or 500 W, keeps open circuit voltage below 15 V, and is rated from -20 degrees C to 85 degrees C. The body measures 89 mm long by 80 mm wide by 28 mm high with the fixing holes 70 mm apart centre to centre, and it uses a single plug with six pins. Part number RM30401.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit without modification?

Yes. It is a direct replacement described by the manufacturer as plug-and-play with no assembly required. The single six-pin plug matches the original and the fixing holes are 70 mm apart centre to centre. Because this regulator covers a broad model range, check the plug and the hole spacing on your existing unit and confirm the OEM number before ordering.

What is included?

You receive the voltage regulator rectifier itself plus the opposite connector, the main harness side connector. That second connector is supplied because the original harness plug on these models commonly melts or corrodes, so you can renew both halves of the joint at the same time.

How do I know my old regulator has failed?

The usual signs are a battery that will not stay charged and a charging voltage that sits outside the normal band. This unit holds 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V with an open circuit voltage below 15 V. A reading well below or well above that at the battery with the engine running, or a visibly burnt harness connector, points at the regulator.

How much charging current will it handle?

Maximum charging current is 50 A, which is 500 W. The unit is rated for operation between -20 degrees C and 85 degrees C and every one is tested before it leaves the manufacturer.
