Yes. It is a direct fit, plug-and-play replacement for the original regulator rectifier on these KZ models, using two plugs and four wires as standard. How do I know my old regulator has failed?
The common symptoms on these bikes are a battery that will not stay charged, headlight brightness that rises and falls with engine speed, or a regulator running hot enough to discolour. A healthy system with this unit fitted holds a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V and an open circuit voltage below 15 V.
What happened to the brown wire?
The RMSTATOR design for this application does away with the brown wire found on the original circuit. That is intentional and is part of how the unit is built - it does not indicate a wrong part.
