This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier, part number RM30Y14, built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Polaris Sportsman 600 and Sportsman 700, and the Polaris Ranger 425 and Ranger 500, in the 2004 model year. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, so no assembly is required before installation. The unit is built with a higher grade of electrical components than the original part and the quality exceeds the OEM equipment it replaces. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

The regulator uses five plugs with five pins in total and staggered lead lengths of 160 mm, 140 mm, 125 mm and 115 mm. It delivers a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V, handles up to 25 A / 300 W of charging current, holds open circuit voltage below 15 V and works from -20 C to 85 C. How can I tell the old regulator rectifier has failed?

A working charging system should show a minimum of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V at the battery. Always fully charge the battery before running any charging system test, and check the stator AC output as well, since a failing stator can take out a new regulator.

Which way round do the yellow stator wires connect?

It does not matter. The yellow wires, with any stripe, are the stator AC input and are interchangeable with no polarity. The red wire is the battery positive output and the brown wire is the battery negative or ground output - those two must be connected correctly.
