Series Regulator Rectifier 50 A for Can-Am, Ski-Doo & Yamaha 2008-2024
Can-Am Outlander 570, Ski-Doo MXZ 1200 and Yamaha YFM - 2008 to 2024 - Part RMS020-106974
This is a Series voltage regulator rectifier, an upgrade on the charging system technology used in the original equipment. A conventional Shunt regulator dumps the stator's surplus output as heat, and a MOSFET unit reduces that loss but still works on the same principle. A Series regulator instead disconnects the stator coils intermittently, so current only passes through the electrical components while the battery is actually being charged. The result is a unit that runs considerably cooler and puts far less thermal stress on both itself and the stator.
The unit is smaller than the original equipment part, which makes it easier to mount, and it uses an improved heat sink design together with a higher grade of electrical components. Built-in overheat protection shuts the unit down automatically if a thermal event occurs. It is a direct replacement with plug-and-play installation, and the opposite connector for the main harness side is supplied with it because the original connectors are so often corroded or melted. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

- Improved heat sink design and a higher grade of electrical components
- Smaller than the original equipment unit, which makes mounting easier
- Direct replacement with plug-and-play installation
- Opposite connector for the main harness side included
- Every unit is tested before it is shipped

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement with plug-and-play installation, using two plugs and five pins and mounting on fixings 69 mm centre to centre. Because the unit is physically smaller than the original equipment part, mounting is generally easier rather than harder. Check the OEM number on your existing regulator against the cross reference table before ordering.
What is included?
One brand new Series voltage regulator rectifier, tested before dispatch, together with the opposite connector for the main harness side. That connector is supplied because the original plugs are commonly corroded or melted, and leaving a damaged plug in place is a frequent cause of repeat charging faults.
How do I tell the old regulator has failed?
Measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running and warm - it should sit near 14.5 V. A reading stuck at resting battery voltage means the unit has stopped charging; a reading well above 15 V means it has stopped regulating. A regulator that is too hot to touch after a short run, or a harness plug that has discoloured or melted, points the same way.
What is the practical advantage of a Series regulator?
Heat. A Shunt or MOSFET regulator has to get rid of the stator's surplus output as heat once the battery is full, so it runs hot continuously and works the stator hard. A Series unit disconnects the stator coils instead, so current only flows through the components while charging is actually needed. It runs cooler, and it has overheat protection that shuts it down if a thermal event does occur.
