This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Suzuki Boulevard C109 and M109 1800 cruisers and the Burgman AN 650 maxi-scooter. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part: the old regulator comes off and this one goes straight on in its place, using the same two factory plugs and the same mounting points. No assembly is required and nothing on the wiring loom needs to be cut, spliced or adapted.
The regulator rectifier does two jobs at once. It rectifies the alternating current produced by the stator into the direct current your battery and electrical system actually run on, and it regulates that output so the charging voltage is held at a safe level rather than climbing with engine speed. When the unit fails, one of two things usually happens: the charging output collapses and the battery is slowly drained until the bike will not start, or regulation is lost and the battery is overcharged and cooked.
