The RM30002 is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier for the air-cooled Suzuki GS range built between 1982 and 1988. It is a direct replacement for the original unit: plug-and-play, direct fit and easy to install, with no assembly required. The regulator rectifier is the component that converts the alternating current produced by the stator into direct current the battery can accept, and then holds that output at a safe level. When it fails, the machine either stops charging or steadily overcharges and destroys the battery.
This unit is built with a higher grade of electrical components than the original and an improved heat sink for better thermal performance, and RMSTATOR test every unit before it ships. It is rated for a maximum charging current of 25 A / 300 W with a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V, and open circuit voltage is held below 15 V. The compact 48 mm by 75 mm by 25 mm body carries five pins on five wires of 250 mm, with 60 mm between the fixation hole centres. The opposite connector for the main harness side is supplied as well, because that plug is very often melted, corroded or defective by the time the regulator itself fails, and a poor connection there is a major cause of repeat electrical problems.

How do I know my old regulator has failed?
With the engine running, measure across the battery terminals. A working system should show a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V plus or minus 0.5 V and should not exceed roughly 15 V. If the voltage sits at resting battery level the unit has stopped charging; if it climbs well beyond 15 V the regulation side has failed and the battery will be damaged. Burnt or discoloured connector pins are another common sign.
