This is a brand new aftermarket voltage regulator rectifier, built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to Yamaha Exciter, GP 800, Wave Raider, Wave Venture, XL 800 and XLT 800 watercraft. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, with no assembly required, so the job is a straightforward swap using the original mounting position and connections.
The quality exceeds the OEM equipment. An improved heat sink and improved charging capability address the heat problem that kills most original regulators on watercraft, and a higher grade of electric components is used throughout. What is included?

How do I know my old regulator has failed?
Check charging voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should sit at 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V. A reading stuck at battery voltage means the unit is not charging, while a reading above 15 V means it is no longer regulating and will cook the battery. A regulator that is discoloured or extremely hot after a short run is also suspect.
What output does this unit handle?
It is rated for a maximum charging current of 20 A / 150 W with open circuit voltage held below 15 V, and it is designed to operate between -20 C and 85 C.
