Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Yamaha GP, XL and XLT 1200 and XR 1800
Yamaha 1999-2005 - RMSTATOR part RM30923 - replaces OEM 66V-81960-00-00
This is a brand new improved voltage regulator rectifier supplied as a direct replacement for the original AC regulator rectifier fitted to the Yamaha GP 1200, XL 1200, XLT 1200 and XR 1800 between 1999 and 2005. It is plug-and-play and direct fit with no assembly required, mounting on the original 55 mm hole centres and reconnecting through the same single four-pin plug as the unit it replaces.
The regulator rectifier takes the alternating current produced by the stator, rectifies it into direct current and then holds that output at a controlled voltage so the battery and the electrical system receive a steady supply instead of an output that climbs with engine speed. This unit is specified to a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V, a maximum charging current of 50 A / 500 W and an open circuit voltage below 15 V, over an operating range of -20 °C to 85 °C. It uses an improved heat sink and charging capabilities and a higher grade of electric components, the quality exceeds the OEM equipment, and all products shipped are tested.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement to your original unit, described as plug-and-play and direct fit with no assembly required. It uses a single four-pin plug with four wires and mounts on 55 mm hole centres, matching the original installation on the listed Yamaha craft.
What is included?
You receive one new RM30923 voltage regulator rectifier unit, tested before dispatch. No additional hardware is listed for this part, so retain the original mounting fixings from the craft.
How do I know my old regulator rectifier has failed?
The standard test is battery voltage with the engine running. A charging system that is working regulates to about 14.5 V. If the reading stays at resting battery voltage or drops, the battery is not being replenished and will not have enough left to restart the engine. If it climbs past 15 V the output is unregulated, which boils the battery and takes out bulbs and electronics. This unit is specified at 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V with an open circuit voltage below 15 V.
Is this the same unit as the smaller 650 to 760 cc Yamaha regulator?
No. This is the larger 1200 and 1800 class unit, measuring 59 mm x 66 mm x 24 mm with a single four-pin plug, and it cross-references to Yamaha 66V-81960-00-00. The smaller craft use a different part number and a different body size, so check the number on the unit currently fitted before ordering.
