Yamaha Outboard 115, 130 and 150 - 1991-2006
A brand new aftermarket AC/DC voltage regulator rectifier supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit on Yamaha outboard engines in the 115, 130 and 150 ranges built between 1991 and 2006. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, so installation is easy and no assembly is required. The connector is included, and every unit is tested before it is shipped.
The heat sink and charging capabilities are improved over the original part and a higher grade of electric components is used throughout, so the quality exceeds the OEM equipment. In service the unit holds a minimum charging voltage of 14.5 V +/- 0.5 V, keeps the open circuit voltage below 15 V and will handle up to 50 A / 500 W of charging current, across an operating range of -20 C to 85 C. That matters on an outboard, where the charging system has to keep the battery topped up through long periods at trolling speed as well as at full throttle.

How can I tell my old regulator rectifier has failed?
The usual signs are a battery that goes flat over a day on the water, a charging voltage at the battery terminals that never reaches about 14.5 V or that rises above 15 V, gauges and lights that vary with engine speed, and a regulator that runs extremely hot. Corroded or burnt pins in the plug are another common indicator on marine installations.
Is it any better than the original Yamaha unit?
