Does fitting this require any modification?
No. It is a direct replacement for the original unit, plug-and-play and direct fit, with no assembly required. It uses a single five-pin plug on five wires of 500 mm, and the mounting holes are 75 mm centre to centre.
What is included?
The regulator rectifier unit and the opposite connector on the main harness side. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.
How do I tell whether my old regulator has failed?
Measure the battery voltage with the engine running. A healthy charging system should hold at least 14.5 V, plus or minus 0.5 V. If the voltage never rises above resting battery level the regulator is not charging, and if it runs above 15 V it is overcharging. A flat battery that keeps coming back, or dimming and flickering lights, usually points the same way.
Why is a second connector supplied?
The plug on the main harness side is very often melted, corroded or otherwise defective by the time the regulator itself fails, and reusing it is a major cause of repetitive electrical issues. Replacing both sides at once deals with the whole joint rather than half of it.
