No. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement with no assembly required. The fixation holes are 60 mm apart centre to centre, matching the original, and the four wires and two plugs follow the standard layout.
What is included?
The voltage regulator rectifier and the opposite connector for the main harness side, so a burnt or corroded plug on the bike can be replaced at the same time.
How do I know the original regulator has failed?
Measure the voltage across the battery with the engine running. A working system should reach at least 14.5 V. If it sits below that the battery is being drained rather than charged, and if it climbs above 15 V the regulator has lost control and is overcharging. On a WR the first symptom is often a battery that will not turn the engine over after a couple of rides, or headlight brightness that rises and falls with revs.
