Voltage Regulator Rectifier for Yamaha
XS 750, XS 750S, XS 850 and XS 1100 - 1977-1981
This is a brand new voltage regulator rectifier, a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Yamaha XS triple and four cylinder range. The unit combines two functions in one housing. The rectifier converts the alternating current produced by the alternator into direct current for the battery and the rest of the electrical system, and the regulator holds the charging output at a stable level so the battery is fully charged without being overcharged. Fitting is plug and play, a direct fit with no assembly required.
The body measures 82 mm long by 71 mm wide by 28 mm high, with 60 mm centre to centre between the fixation holes and two wire looms of 285 mm and 320 mm. It carries two plugs, seven pins and seven wires, and is rated at a maximum charging current of 50 A or 500 W. The quality exceeds the OEM equipment, with an improved heat sink, better charging capability and a higher grade of electric components. An opposite connector for the main harness side is included, since these connectors are often melted, corroded or defective and are a major cause of repetitive electrical issues. Part reference RM30005.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement for the original unit, plug and play with a direct fit at the factory mounting points and matching two plug, seven pin, seven wire connections. No assembly and no wiring changes are required.
What is included?
The voltage regulator rectifier unit and the opposite connector for the main harness side, so the whole connection can be renewed in one go.
How do I know my old unit has failed?
With the engine running, the voltage at the battery terminals should sit near 14.5 V. If it stays down at resting battery voltage the unit has stopped charging; if it climbs above 15 V it has stopped regulating and will boil the battery and blow bulbs. Batteries that go flat repeatedly, lights that dim or flare with revs, and a regulator body that is discoloured or too hot to touch all point to a failed unit.
Is this strong enough for the XS 1100?
Yes. The unit is rated to a maximum charging current of 50 A or 500 W with an improved heat sink, which covers the full output of the XS range comfortably.
