Starter Relay Solenoid for Honda and Kawasaki
Honda CB 300-1000 and CBR 250-1100, Kawasaki VN 800-1500 and Ninja ZX - 1985-2026
This is a brand new starter relay solenoid switch supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to a wide range of Honda and Kawasaki motorcycles. The starter relay solenoid is the heavy-duty switch that sits between the battery and the starter motor. When you press the start button, a low current from the button energises the coil inside the solenoid, which closes a set of high-current contacts and allows the full battery current to reach the starter motor. Because it carries the entire cranking load, it is one of the hardest working electrical components on the machine and a very common failure point on older bikes.
The unit measures 46 mm high, 34 mm long and 38 mm wide, and carries four terminals with a single plug connector. The quality exceeds the OEM equipment and every product shipped is tested before it leaves the factory. Part reference RM09009. Because the same solenoid design was used by both Honda and Kawasaki across a long production run, this single part covers the CB and CBR ranges alongside the VN Vulcan and Ninja ZX families. Always confirm the OEM part number stamped on your original unit before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement for the original unit on the models listed above, with four terminals and a single plug matching the factory layout. No cutting or splicing is required. Check the OEM number on your existing solenoid against the cross reference table before ordering.
What is included?
One brand new starter relay solenoid switch, part reference RM09009. Every unit is tested before shipping.
How do I know my old starter relay has failed?
The classic symptom is a single loud click from the solenoid when you press the start button but no cranking, with headlights and dash lights staying bright. Intermittent starting that improves after tapping the solenoid, or a starter that keeps spinning after you release the button, both point to burnt or welded internal contacts. A healthy battery and good cables with no cranking usually means the relay itself.
Why does one solenoid cover so many different models?
Honda and Kawasaki both used this common four terminal solenoid body across their mid and large capacity ranges for many years, which is why the cross reference list runs to twenty OEM numbers. The mounting and connector are the same even where the bikes are very different.
