How do I know my old plug cap has failed?
Measure across the cap with a multimeter - it should read close to 5k ohms. A reading that has climbed well above that, or an open circuit, means the internal resistor has broken down. On the bike this shows up as a misfire that gets worse in the wet, a hard start, or a spark that jumps to the cylinder head instead of the plug.
Will the resistance affect my ignition system?
