Do I need to modify anything to fit this relay?
No. It is a direct replacement with the same four terminals and single plug as the original, so it fits the original mounting position and reconnects to the existing wiring.
What do I receive?
One brand new starter relay solenoid switch, tested before dispatch. Fixings and cables are not included, so re-use the originals from the relay you are removing.
How do I tell whether the relay or the starter has failed?
A failing relay usually gives a single loud click with no crank, an intermittent crank that works on the second or third attempt, or complete silence with a battery that is known to be good. If you bridge the two heavy terminals on the relay with a suitable insulated tool and the starter spins normally, the starter is fine and the relay contacts are at fault. If nothing happens, look further at the starter or its cables.
Does it matter which way round the small plug goes?
The relay uses a single keyed plug for the trigger circuit alongside its heavy terminals, so it can only be connected one way. Make sure the battery is disconnected before removing the heavy cables, and refit them to the same terminals they came from.
