Starter Relay Solenoid Switch

Arctic Cat 350 CR and Alterra 400-500 / CFMoto CFORCE 400-1000 / Suzuki GSX 250 - 2007-2025 - Part RMS090-106145

This is a brand new starter relay solenoid switch supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit. The starter relay is the heavy duty switch that sits between the battery and the starter motor. When you press the start button the machine sends a small current to the relay coil, and the relay closes a much larger contact that carries the full cranking current through to the starter. Because it handles that current every single start, the relay contacts eventually burn, pit or weld, and the machine either clicks without turning over or does nothing at all.

The quality of this unit exceeds the original equipment and every item is tested before it is shipped. It is a four terminal solenoid with a single plug for the trigger wiring and an integrated 150A 30S fuse, measuring 50 mm in height, length and width, with 47 mm between the fixation holes so it drops into the original mounting position. Installation is a straightforward swap: disconnect the battery, transfer the heavy cables and the trigger plug to the new relay, and refit it to the existing bracket. No modification to the loom or the frame is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this relay fit without modification?

Yes. It is a direct replacement for the original unit on the applications listed above. The fixation holes are 47 mm apart so it sits in the original mounting position, and the heavy cables and the trigger plug transfer straight across. Check the number on your existing relay against the cross reference table if you want to be certain before ordering.

What is included?

One starter relay solenoid switch with four terminals, a single trigger plug and an integrated 150A 30S fuse. Cables, terminals and mounting hardware are not supplied - reuse the ones already on the machine.

How do I tell whether my old starter relay has failed?

The classic sign is a single loud click from the relay when you press the start button while the engine does not turn over, with headlights and dash staying bright. Intermittent starting that improves if you tap the relay, a relay that stays stuck closed and keeps the starter spinning, or a burnt smell around the unit all point the same way. A healthy battery and clean cable ends that still will not crank usually leave the relay as the culprit.

What does the built in fuse do?

This relay carries an integrated fuse rated at 150A 30S, which is the main circuit protection between the battery and the rest of the machine. If that fuse has blown you will usually get no power at all rather than a click, so it is worth checking it before condemning the relay itself.
