This is a brand new aftermarket starter relay solenoid switch, supplied under RMSTATOR part number RMS090-104608. It replaces the original starter solenoid fitted to Honda TRX 125, TRX 200, TRX 250 and TRX 300 ATVs, the ATC 200 three-wheeler, and the CBX 1000 and CX 500 road bikes built between 1978 and 2000. RMSTATOR builds the unit to exceed the original equipment specification and tests every one before it is shipped.
The solenoid is the heavy-duty relay that connects the battery directly to the starter motor. Pressing the start button sends a small current through the solenoid coil, which pulls an internal contact closed and allows the full starting current to reach the starter. That contact carries the entire load every time the engine is started, so it pits and burns with age. When it does, the starter cranks slowly, cranks only sometimes, or stops working altogether even though the battery is healthy. This unit comes with a 300 mm wire lead and two terminals, matching the original layout.

Does this solenoid fit without modification?
Yes. On the applications listed above it is a direct replacement for the original unit, with the same two-terminal layout and the same 300 mm lead, so no cutting, drilling or rewiring is required. Check the number stamped on your original solenoid against the cross reference table before ordering.
What is supplied in the box?
The starter relay solenoid, complete with its 300 mm wire lead and plug. RMSTATOR does not list any additional brackets, cables or mounting rubbers with this part, so retain those from your original unit and transfer them across.
How do I tell whether my starter solenoid has failed?
The usual signs are a single loud click with no crank, a starter that works only intermittently or only when the machine is cold, or no response at all when you press the button while the lights still work normally. The solenoid contact carries the full starting current, so it wears out long before the rest of the starting circuit does.
My machine is a TRX 250 but the old solenoid carries a different part number - will this still work?
