Starter Relay Solenoid - Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo, Can-Am and Polaris
Sea-Doo / Ski-Doo / Can-Am UTV / Polaris PWC 1995-2024 - Part number RMS090-101685
This is a brand new starter relay solenoid switch, a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to a wide range of Sea-Doo and Ski-Doo machines, Can-Am UTV side-by-sides and Polaris personal watercraft built between 1995 and 2024. The starter relay is the heavy duty switch between the battery and the starter motor: pressing the start button energises the internal coil, which closes a set of high current contacts and passes full battery current to the starter. It works hard in heat, vibration and moisture, which is why a failed relay is a common cause of a no-start condition on machines of this age.
The quality of this relay exceeds the original equipment specification and every unit is tested before it ships. It keeps the same mounting footprint and terminal layout as the factory part, so it drops into the standard bracket with no modification, drilling or rewiring. The body measures 56 mm high, 59 mm long and 78 mm wide, with 60 mm between the bracket hole centres. All of our item pictures are accurate, so if in doubt compare our item to your original part.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement using the same bracket footprint, with 60 mm between the mounting hole centres, so no drilling, cutting or rewiring is needed. Confirm your application against one of the OEM part numbers listed above.
What is included?
One brand new starter relay solenoid switch, tested before despatch. Cables and mounting hardware are not supplied, so reuse the fixings and leads from your existing solenoid.
How do I know my old relay has failed?
The usual symptom is a single loud click, or rapid clicking, when you press the start button while the starter motor does not turn. Burnt internal contacts can also cause intermittent starting that worsens when hot, or no response at all. Always charge and test the battery first, as a weak battery gives very similar symptoms.
Does this relay carry the full starter current?
Yes. It is the high current switch between battery and starter, so the main terminals carry the entire cranking load. Disconnect the battery before servicing - there is a risk of electric shock and of shorting the main terminals - and we recommend fitting by a qualified technician.
