Delco SD200 / SD250 / SD300 series short solenoid
This starter solenoid is built to OEM specification as a direct replacement for the common short-body solenoid fitted to Delco 5MT, 10MT and 27MT series starters, including SD200, SD250 and SD300 units. As the electromechanical switch that sits on top of the starter motor, it does two jobs at once: it pulls the starter drive gear into mesh with the flywheel and, in the same movement, closes the heavy internal contacts that send full battery current through to the starter motor windings.
It is a 12-volt unit designed to fit and function exactly like the original, restoring reliable starter engagement without needing to source a full starter motor assembly. Because the solenoid carries the entire starting current on every crank, a worn or pitted original is one of the most common causes of a starter that clicks but does not turn the engine over.
