Stator for Yamaha WR 250 R and WR250X
WR 250 R 2008-2020 - WR250X 2008-2011 - Pickup Pulsar Coil Included - Part RM01448
This is a brand new aftermarket stator built as a direct replacement for the original charging coil fitted to the Yamaha WR 250 R and the supermoto version, the WR250X. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part: it mounts on the original fixings inside the left-hand engine cover and mates with the original wiring harness connectors, so no cutting, splicing, soldering or other modification is needed. The stator generates the machine's charging current, and once its windings begin to break down the battery will no longer be kept topped up however far you ride.
The unit is wound with the highest grade of copper, rated to 200 degrees Celsius, over a high grade lamination core, which is what allows it to withstand the heat inside the engine case far better than a tired original. A pickup pulsar coil, the connector and a rubber grommet are supplied with it, so the timing pickup, the plug and the case seal are all renewed in one operation rather than reusing parts that have already been heat cycled for years. Every unit is bench tested before it is shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this stator fit without modification?
Yes. On the models and years listed in the fitment guide above it is a direct fit. It uses the original mounting points and the original harness connectors, so there is no cutting, splicing or soldering involved. Before ordering, please check the OEM number on the unit you are removing against the cross reference table.
What is included in the box?
The stator unit, the pickup pulsar coil, the connector and the rubber grommet. The pickup coil is the small sensor that tells the ignition where the crank is, and supplying it with the stator means the whole assembly behind the left-hand cover is renewed together.
How can I tell that my old stator has failed?
The usual signs are a battery that will not hold its charge however far you ride, lights that dim rather than brighten as the revs rise, and a charging voltage at the battery that never rises above resting voltage. To confirm it electrically, unplug the stator and measure across the alternator output wires: you should read about 0.4 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent. Measure the pickup coil: it should read about 265 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit, a reading well outside those figures, or any continuity between a winding and the stator body confirms the stator has failed.
Does the same part cover both the WR 250 R and the WR250X?
Yes. The WR250X is the supermoto version of the same machine and shares its engine and charging system, so one stator covers both. The difference is the production span: the WR 250 R ran from 2008 to 2020, while the WR250X was only sold from 2008 to 2011.
