Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and ZX6R - 2007 to 2008
This is a brand new aftermarket stator, a direct replacement for the original charging coil assembly fitted to the 2007 and 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part that drops into the standard mounting position behind the alternator cover and mates with the existing loom, so no cutting, splicing or modification is needed. The connector and rubber grommet are supplied already fitted to the loom.
The unit is wound with the highest grade copper and built on the highest grade lamination materials, with the winding insulation resistant to 200 degrees Celsius. On a high-revving supersport engine the stator runs immersed in hot oil for long periods, and that temperature rating is what stops the varnish breaking down and shorting a leg to earth. Every unit is tested before it is shipped. How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Unplug the connector and measure between the three white wires. Each pair should read approximately 0.4 ohms, within plus or minus 20 per cent, and the readings should be consistent across all three pairs. An open circuit, a shorted reading, or one leg noticeably different from the other two points to a failed winding. Then check each white wire for continuity to the engine case - any reading at all means the insulation has broken down and the stator must be replaced.
Why does it come with a spare connector?
The main harness side connector on this model is frequently melted, corroded or defective by the time the stator gives up, and is a major cause of repetitive electrical issues. The extra plug and pins let you renew that side of the joint while the fairing is already off.
