A brand new stator built as a direct replacement for the original unit on the 1995 and 1996 Yamaha V-Max 500 and V-Max 600 family, including the Deluxe, Electric Start, ST and XT variants. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, so it mounts on the original bosses and joins the loom through the single factory six-pin plug with no splicing and no adapters.
The stator is wound with the highest grade copper on the highest grade lamination material, rated to withstand 200 degrees Celsius. That temperature rating matters on a stator that lives inside a hot recoil housing, and it is the main reason a tired original loses charging output long before it fails outright. The connector and the rubber grommet are supplied fitted so the harness is renewed along with the windings. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Does anything need modifying to fit it?
No. It replaces the original stator directly on the listed models, using the factory mounting positions and the single six-pin plug. No cutting, splicing or drilling.
What comes in the box?
The stator with its connector and rubber grommet already fitted. A pick-up coil is not part of this assembly.
How do I tell whether my stator has failed?
Look for a battery that will not hold charge, headlights that dim or brighten erratically with revs, and weak or lost spark. Then measure the old unit: yellow to white should read about 0.4 ohms and brown to red/black about 314 ohms, both within 20%. An open circuit, a short to the core, or a value well away from those figures means the windings have gone.
My OEM number is 8AB-85510-10-00 rather than 20-00. Is this still correct?
