Stator for Can-Am Defender, Maverick Sport & Traxter 800-1000
Defender HD8, HD9 and HD10, Maverick Sport, Traxter 900 and 1000 - 2020-2024
This is a brand new aftermarket stator supplied as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to Can-Am Defender 800, 900 and 1000 machines, including the HD8, HD9 and HD10 variants, together with Maverick Sport and Traxter 900 and 1000 models built between 2020 and 2024. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part: the original mounting points, wire routing and connector are all retained, so the machine can be put back into service without cutting, splicing or modifying the loom.
The unit is built on the highest grade of lamination materials and wound with the highest grade of copper winding, resistant to 200 degrees Celsius, so it copes with the sustained heat inside the engine case that kills the original part. Every stator is tested before it is shipped. Connectors and a rubber grommet are supplied with the stator, and an extra connector for the main harness side is included as well, because on these machines the harness plug is very often found melted, corroded or otherwise defective alongside the failed stator itself. Fitting the fresh harness plug at the same time as the stator prevents the same fault repeating a few months later.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this stator fit without modification?
Yes. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement for the original unit. The 42 mm interior diameter, 115 mm exterior diameter and 16 mm thickness match the original, and the single 3-pin plug connects straight to the machine's harness, so no cutting or splicing is required.
What is included in the box?
The stator assembly with its 3-wire lead, the connectors, and the rubber grommet. An extra connector for the main harness side is also included, so a burnt or corroded harness plug can be renewed at the same time.
How do I know the old stator has failed?
A failing stator normally shows up as a battery that will not stay charged, dim or flickering lights, and hard starting after a period of running. Measure the resistance between each pair of the three yellow wires: the reading should be approximately 0.3 ohms, within plus or minus 20 per cent. A reading well outside that, or any continuity between a yellow wire and the stator body, means the winding has failed.
Why does the kit include a spare harness connector?
The main harness plug on these machines carries the full output of the charging system and runs hot. It is very often found melted, corroded or defective when the stator itself fails, and reusing a damaged plug will overheat the new stator. The opposite half of the connector is supplied so the harness side can be repaired during the same job.
