A brand new stator built as a direct replacement for the original unit fitted to the Can-Am DS 250 youth and entry-level quad. It is a five-wire assembly carrying both the alternator windings and the pickup circuit, so one part restores the charging system and the ignition trigger together.
Fitting is plug-and-play: the 103 mm outer diameter, the 41 mm bore and the 25 mm stack thickness follow the factory pattern, and the two plugs with five pins between them mate with the standard loom, so the original comes out and this one goes straight in with no cutting or splicing. The 700 mm run from grommet to plug matches the factory routing. Windings are the highest grade copper insulated to withstand 200 degrees Celsius, laid on the highest grade lamination material. The pick-up pulsar coil, the connector and the rubber grommet are all supplied fitted, and every unit is electrically tested before it is despatched.

Will this stator fit without modification?

What is included?
The stator with the pick-up pulsar coil already fitted, plus the connector and the rubber grommet. The flywheel, the stator cover and its gasket are not included and should be reused from your machine.
How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Set a multimeter to ohms and measure between each pair of Yellow wires - the readings should all be about 0.2 ohms, within plus or minus 20 per cent, and should match each other closely. Then measure the pickup between the Green and Blue wires, which should read about 500 ohms on the same tolerance. Finally check each wire against the stator body: any continuity to earth means a winding has shorted. A flat battery after every ride points at the charging windings, while a complete lack of spark points at the pickup.
The pickup reading on my DS 250 is far below 500 ohms - what does that mean?
A pickup coil that reads well under 500 ohms has usually suffered a partial short between turns, and a reading of zero or an open circuit means it has failed outright. Either way the trigger signal to the ignition becomes unreliable, which is why the engine may start when cold and then cut out once everything has warmed through.
