Does this stator fit without modification?

How can I tell my old stator has failed?
The classic symptoms are a battery that goes flat and will not recover, dim or flickering lights, and a bike that runs on the battery alone until it dies. Measure across the black alternator wires: the reading should be close to 0.6 ohms, within 20 per cent. An open circuit, a very low reading, or continuity between a winding and the stator body all mean the stator has failed.
Why does this part include the pickup pulsar coil?
On this Honda design the pickup pulsar coil is mounted on the same backing plate as the charging windings and shares the loom out to the plugs. Supplying the two together means the ignition trigger is renewed at the same time, and the pickup can be checked on the bench: white/yellow to blue/yellow should read about 232 ohms, within 20 per cent.
