Stator - Honda TRX 250 EX Sportrax & TRX 250 X

Honda TRX 250 EX Sportrax 2006-2008 and TRX 250 X 2009-2024 - RMSTATOR part RMS010-107110

This is a brand new aftermarket stator built as a direct replacement for the original unit in the Honda TRX 250 EX Sportrax and the TRX 250 X. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit assembly supplied with the pick up pulsar coil, the connectors and the rubber grommet, so the complete unit seats in the engine cover and plugs into the standard harness without any modification.

The stator is wound on the highest grade of lamination materials using the highest grade of copper winding, rated to withstand 200 degrees Celsius. It measures 88 mm on the exterior diameter with a 35 mm interior diameter and 18 mm of thickness, and carries 8 poles across 5 wires, 2 plugs and 5 pins. Alternator resistance measures 0.7 ohms yellow to yellow, the pickup measures 336 ohms from blue/yellow to ground and the source coil measures 185 ohms from black/red to ground, all within plus or minus 20 per cent. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

On these single-cylinder Honda sport quads the stator does three jobs at once: it charges the battery, it feeds the ignition source coil and it carries the pickup that tells the ignition when to fire. That is why a failing stator here can show up as a flat battery, as a weak or absent spark, or as both together. Replacing the whole assembly deals with all three circuits in one job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this stator fit without modification?

Yes. It is a plug-and-play direct replacement for the original unit on the models and years shown in the fitment guide above. The connectors and rubber grommet are supplied, so the loom does not need to be cut or spliced. Check the number on your original unit against 31120-HN6-A30 or 31120-HN6-A31 before ordering.

What is included?

The stator, the pick up pulsar coil, the connectors and the rubber grommet, supplied as a complete assembly ready to fit.

How do I know my old stator has failed?

Look for a battery that goes flat over a few rides, dim lights, or a machine that will not spark. Measured cold with a multimeter, the alternator should read about 0.7 ohms yellow to yellow, the pickup about 336 ohms from blue/yellow to ground, and the source coil about 185 ohms from black/red to ground, each within plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit or a short to the engine case on any of those confirms failure.

Why does this stator have a source coil as well as a charging winding?

The ignition on these Honda 250 sport quads takes its power from a separate source coil wound into the same stator, in addition to the battery charging winding and the pickup. All three are part of this one assembly, so a single replacement covers the charging fault and the ignition fault together.
