A brand new aftermarket stator for the 2008 to 2010 Kawasaki KLR 650, supplied as a direct replacement for the original charging unit. It is plug-and-play and a direct fit, mounting on the standard fixings inside the generator cover and connecting through the standard three-pin plug, so no rewiring, splicing or modification to the bike is required.
The KLR 650 is a bike that spends its life loaded, often with heated grips, auxiliary lighting and other extras hung off the charging circuit, and a tired stator shows up quickly as a battery that never quite recovers. This replacement is built on highest grade lamination materials and wound with highest grade copper windings rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius, so it copes with the heat of a big air-cooled single. How do I tell whether my stator has failed?
Unplug the three-pin connector and measure between each pair of yellow wires. Each pair should read about 0.8 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent, and the three readings should be close to each other. Any pair reading open circuit, or continuity between a yellow wire and the stator body, means the winding has gone.
Which Kawasaki OEM numbers does it replace?
Both 21003-0084 and 21003-0045. If your original unit carries either of those numbers, this part is the direct equivalent, so an earlier bike that has already had a superseded stator fitted is still covered.
