This is a brand new aftermarket stator and a direct replacement for the original unit on the Kawasaki Ninja 400 EX400, Ninja 500 EX500, Z 400 ER400 and Z 500 ER500. It is plug-and-play, a direct fit and easy to install. The assembly is supplied complete with the pick up pulsar coil, the connectors and the rubber grommet, so both the charging output and the ignition trigger signal are renewed in one part.
The windings use the highest grade of copper, resistant to 200 degrees Celsius, on the highest grade of lamination materials. That thermal headroom is the point of the part: a stator running an under-seat ECU load, lights and a battery in stop-start traffic sees a great deal of heat, and it is degraded insulation that produces the classic symptoms - a battery that drains over a few rides, charging voltage that never rises above resting voltage, and eventually an intermittent misfire as the pickup signal becomes unreliable. All products shipped are tested.

Does this stator need any modification to fit?
No. It is a direct replacement for the original unit, plug-and-play and a direct fit. The connectors and rubber grommet are already fitted, so there is no cutting or splicing of the loom.
What is included in the box?
The stator with the pick up pulsar coil, the connectors and the rubber grommet. Every unit is tested before it ships.
How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
With the engine off and the plugs disconnected, measure between the black alternator wires - a healthy unit reads approximately 0.6 ohms +/- 20% between each pair. Then check the pickup circuit from white to green/white, which should read approximately 232 ohms +/- 20%. Open circuit, a reading far outside those tolerances, or continuity from any output wire to earth means the stator has failed.
Does one part really cover both the Ninja and the Z models?
Yes. The Ninja 400 EX400, Ninja 500 EX500, Z 400 ER400 and Z 500 ER500 share the same charging platform and the same OEM stator number, 21003-0178. Check that number against your original unit and the part will fit any of them.
