This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to the Kawasaki Vulcan VN 800 Classic and the Vulcan VN 800 Drifter built between 1995 and 2006. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part, so the existing loom does not need to be cut, spliced or modified in order to install it. The stator arrives with its connector and rubber grommet already fitted, exactly as the original unit was supplied.
The unit is wound using the highest grade of copper winding, rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius, and built on the highest grade of lamination materials. Every stator is tested before it is shipped. An additional opposite connector for the main harness side is included in the box, because on a machine of this age the harness-side plug is very often melted, corroded or otherwise defective, and replacing both halves of the connection at the same time is the only way to be certain of a clean, low-resistance joint.

Do I need to modify the wiring to fit this stator?
No. This is a direct fit, plug-and-play replacement for the original unit. It uses the same three-wire, three-pin plug arrangement as the factory stator, so it connects to the existing loom without cutting or splicing.
What is included in the box?

How can I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Measure the resistance between the three yellow alternator wires with the plug disconnected. Each pair should read approximately 0.6 ohms, within about 20%. A reading that is open circuit, or a reading to earth from any of the three wires, indicates a failed winding. A battery that will not hold charge while the engine is running is the usual first symptom.
Why is a second connector supplied?
The plug on the main harness side is a common failure point on machines of this age, as it is frequently melted, corroded or defective. The extra connector lets you renew both halves of the joint at the same time.
