This is a brand new generator stator built as a direct replacement for the original charging coil fitted to the Ski-Doo Expedition, Legend and Skandic SWT, and to the Lynx Rave RE and YETI Pro. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part: it mounts on the original fixings and mates with the original wiring harness connector, so no cutting, splicing, soldering or other modification is needed to install it. The stator is the component that produces the sled's charging current, and once its windings start to break down the battery will no longer be kept topped up however long you run the machine.
The unit is built with the highest grade of lamination materials and the highest grade of copper windings, resistant to 200 degrees Celsius, which is what allows it to survive the heat inside the engine case far better than a tired original. A connector and a rubber grommet are supplied with it, so the plug and the case seal are renewed at the same time as the windings rather than reusing hardware that has already been heat cycled for years. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Will this stator fit without modification?
Yes. On the models and years listed in the fitment guide above it is a direct fit. It uses the original mounting points and the original harness connector, so there is no cutting, splicing or soldering involved. Because these sleds were sold in several specifications, please confirm the OEM number on the unit you are removing reads 420684853 or 420684852 before ordering.
What is included in the box?
The generator stator itself, the connector and the rubber grommet. There is no separate pickup coil in this assembly - it is a three wire, single plug charging stator, which makes it one of the simpler units to install.
How can I tell that my old stator has failed?
The usual signs are a battery that will not stay charged however long the sled runs, lights and heated grips that fade rather than strengthen as the revs rise, and a charging voltage at the battery that never climbs above resting voltage. To confirm it electrically, unplug the stator and measure between any two of the three yellow wires: each pair should read about 0.4 ohms, plus or minus 20 per cent, and all three pairs should be close to one another. An open circuit, a reading well outside that figure, or any continuity between a winding and the stator body confirms the stator has failed.
Why is the lead so long on this stator?
The run from the rubber grommet to the plug is 800 mm, which reflects how far the connector sits from the engine on these chassis. The generous length means the loom can be routed exactly as the original was, without stretching the wires or needing an extension.
