Stator for Yamaha YFM 350 and YFM 400 Kodiak
Yamaha YFM 350 Big Bear, Warrior and Moto-4, and YFM 400 Kodiak - 1993-2001
This is a brand new stator for the Yamaha YFM 350 Big Bear, Warrior and Moto-4 and the YFM 400 Kodiak. It is a direct replacement for the original unit and fits plug and play, with no rewiring or modification needed. The stator carries the alternator windings that charge the battery, the pick-up coil that triggers the ignition and a separate source coil, so a fault in any one circuit can leave the machine either flat or completely dead.
The windings are the highest grade of copper, rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius, on the highest grade of lamination material. The unit is 115 mm across the outside, 53 mm inside and 14 mm thick, with seven wires, three plugs and seven pins. Leads run 150 mm from the stator to the grommet and 420 mm from the grommet to the plug, with a 300 mm pick-up coil lead. The pick-up pulsar coil, the connector and the rubber grommet are supplied fitted, and the main harness side connector is included as well. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a plug and play direct replacement for the original stator on the listed models, using the original mounting and connectors. Check the number on your existing unit against the cross reference table before ordering.
What is included?
You receive the stator with the pick-up pulsar coil, the connector and the rubber grommet fitted, plus the main harness side connector. The flywheel and the cover gasket are not included.
How do I know my stator has failed?
Measure across the white alternator wires - each pair should read 0.4 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent, with no continuity to earth. The pick-up should read 450 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent from white to red, and the source coil 320 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent from green to brown. An open circuit, a short to earth or a reading well outside those bands means the stator has failed.
My quad cranks but has no spark - is the stator the cause?
It can be. On these models the source coil and the pick-up coil are both part of the stator assembly, and either one going open circuit will stop the ignition firing while the alternator windings still charge the battery normally. Test the white to red pick-up circuit and the green to brown source circuit before replacing the CDI.
