This is a brand new aftermarket stator built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit fitted to the Yamaha YFM 450 Kodiak. It is supplied complete with the pickup pulsar coil, the connectors and a rubber grommet, and it becomes a plug-and-play unit once the original grommet from your old stator has been reinstalled onto the new one.
The winding is copper rated to 200 degrees C and it is laid over highest-grade lamination material, so the assembly stands up to the heat and vibration that eventually finishes a tired original unit. Every stator is tested before it leaves the factory. A weak or shorted stator is the usual reason a Kodiak will not hold a charge, so replacing it restores the full output the charging system was designed around.

Yes. It is a direct replacement that uses the original mounting points and the original wiring. The only step to carry out is transferring the rubber grommet from your old stator onto the new one, after which the unit is plug-and-play.

How can I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Measure with a multimeter. The alternator windings should read about 0.5 ohms White to White and the pickup should read about 507 ohms Grey to Black, both within 20 percent. A reading far outside those figures, or any continuity between a winding and the stator body, points to a failed unit. A battery that will not stay charged and headlights that dim at idle are the usual symptoms.
Do I need to buy the pickup pulsar coil separately?
No. The pickup pulsar coil is part of this assembly and is supplied with the stator, so the ignition trigger and the charging winding are replaced together.
