Stator for Yamaha YFM 80 Badger, YFM 80 Moto-4 & YFM 100 Champ 1985-1988
Direct-fit replacement charging stator - part RMS010-104906 - fits 1985 to 1988 models
The stator is the fixed winding assembly that sits behind the flywheel and generates the alternating current your quad needs to charge the battery and run the ignition. On the small-bore Yamaha utility and youth machines of the mid-1980s the stator also carries the pickup pulsar coil and the ignition source coil, so a single failed winding can leave the bike with a flat battery, a weak spark, or no spark at all. This aftermarket assembly is built as a direct replacement for the original unit and is supplied ready to bolt straight into the engine case.
It is wound with high-grade copper on high-grade laminations and insulated to withstand 200 degrees Celsius, which is well above the temperature a crankcase-mounted stator normally sees in service. The assembly arrives complete with the pickup pulsar coil, the connector, the rubber grommet and the back plate already fitted, and every unit is electrically tested before it leaves the factory. Installation is plug-and-play: the original loom plugs straight in, so no cutting, splicing or re-pinning is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit without modification?
Yes. It is a direct, plug-and-play replacement for the original stator on the listed machines. The mounting holes, the wire routing and the connectors match the factory unit, so no cutting, splicing or re-pinning of the loom is required.
What is included in the box?
The stator unit itself, the pickup pulsar coil, the connector, the rubber grommet and the back plate. Gaskets, seals and the flywheel are not included.
How can I tell my old stator has failed?
The usual signs are a battery that will not stay charged, dim or flickering lights, a weak or intermittent spark, or no spark at all. Confirm it with a multimeter against the resistance figures in the specification table above: the alternator winding should read about 0.4 ohms, the pickup about 338 ohms and the source coil about 433 ohms, each within 20%. A reading that is open circuit, or one that shows continuity to the stator body, means the winding has failed.
Does the pickup pulsar coil come already fitted?
Yes. The pickup pulsar coil is supplied mounted on the back plate with its wire already routed to the grommet, so you do not need to transfer the coil from your old unit or set its position.
