This is a brand new aftermarket stator for the Yamaha Zuma 50, supplied as a direct replacement for the original unit. It is plug-and-play, a direct fit and easy to install. The assembly comes complete with the pick up pulsar coil, the connectors, the rubber grommet and the back plate, so everything needed to rebuild the ignition and charging side behind the flywheel is in the one box rather than being sourced separately.
The windings use the highest grade of copper, resistant to 200 degrees Celsius, on the highest grade of lamination materials. On a small scooter that runs constantly at high revs with the engine tucked away under bodywork, heat is what finishes an original stator - the insulation breaks down, one of the three circuits goes out of specification, and the scooter develops a weak spark, a hard hot start or a battery that will not stay charged. Does this stator need any modification to fit?
No. It is a direct replacement for the original unit, plug-and-play and a direct fit. The connectors, rubber grommet and back plate are all supplied, so nothing has to be reused from the old assembly or spliced into the loom.
What is included in the box?

How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
With the engine off and the plugs disconnected, check all three circuits: white to yellow/red should read approximately 0.7 ohms +/- 20%, white/red to black (ground) approximately 478 ohms +/- 20%, and black/red to black (ground) approximately 800 ohms +/- 20%. One circuit reading open, shorted or well outside tolerance is enough to confirm the stator has failed.
Why does this stator have three separate circuits?
Because the Zuma 50 runs the lighting and battery charging from the alternator winding, the ignition timing signal from the pickup, and the ignition energy itself from the separate source coil. All three are wound onto this one assembly, which is why a single failed circuit can cause a charging fault and a spark fault at the same time.
