Is any modification needed to fit it?
No. This is a plug-and-play, direct fit replacement. The 104 mm outer diameter, 42 mm bore, 18-pole layout and five-wire output all match the original, so it fits the standard cover and plugs into the existing loom untouched.
What comes in the box?

How do I confirm the old stator is the problem?
Disconnect the plugs and measure between each pair of white wires - all three readings should be near 0.4 ohms and within about 20 per cent of one another. Each white wire should read open line to the engine casing; any continuity there is a short to earth. The pickup coil, measured blue to yellow, should read around 550 ohms.
Should I check anything else while the cover is off?
Inspect the harness-side plug and the wiring where it passes through the grommet. A high-resistance or partly melted connector loads the charging circuit and is a frequent reason a replacement stator fails early, which is why the matching harness-side connector is supplied with this kit.
