Generator Stator for Honda CBR 1100 XX, VF 750 Magna V45, VFR 750 and VFR 800 Interceptor
Honda CBR 1100 XX, VF 750 Magna V45, VFR 750 Interceptor, VFR 800 Interceptor - 1994 to 2007 - Part RM01122
A brand new replacement stator for the Honda V4 and CBR 1100 XX Super Blackbird charging systems. The original grommet is reinstalled onto the new unit along with the supplied new connector; once reassembled it is a plug-and-play part, a direct fit, and very easy to install. There is no need to modify the standard wiring loom or the stator cover in any way.
The stator is built with the highest grade lamination materials and the highest grade copper windings, rated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. That matters on these engines because the stator runs immersed in hot oil behind the cover, and thermal breakdown of the winding insulation is the usual cause of failure. Every product shipped has been tested. The three yellow output legs read approximately 0.9 ohms to one another and should show an open line to ground, so the unit can be verified with a multimeter in a couple of minutes.
Two installation points are worth noting. Locking compound must be used on the stator retaining bolts - they sit in an oil bath under vibration and a loose bolt can destroy the winding. Second, the wire colour codes on the new unit may differ from the original part; the wiring configuration itself must not be altered to suit the colours. Connect the three output legs to the three regulator inputs exactly as the original was connected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is any modification needed to fit it?
No. The original grommet is reinstalled onto the new stator together with the supplied new connector, and from there it is a plug-and-play, direct fit installation. The loom itself is not modified.
The wire colours are different from my old stator - is that a problem?
No. The manufacturer states that colour codes may differ from the original part. The wiring configuration must not be altered to match the colours; connect the three output legs in the same arrangement as the original unit.
How do I confirm the old stator has failed?
Disconnect the stator and measure between each pair of yellow wires - a serviceable unit reads about 0.9 ohms, within plus or minus 20 percent. Then measure from any yellow wire to the engine casing; the reading should be an open line. Continuity to ground, or a reading far outside 0.9 ohms, means the winding has failed.
Do I need to do anything special with the bolts?
Yes. Locking compound must be applied to the stator retaining bolts during installation, as specified by the manufacturer.
