Generator Stator for Kawasaki KZ 650 and KZ 750
Kawasaki KZ 650 / KZ 750, 1980-1985 - RMSTATOR RM01079
This is a brand new aftermarket stator for the Kawasaki KZ 650 and KZ 750 built between 1980 and 1985, replacing Kawasaki part numbers 21003-1026 and 21003-1083. It is a direct replacement for the original unit, so installation is plug-and-play and direct fit - the stator mounts in the standard generator cover on the standard fixings and the three yellow output wires connect to the standard regulator/rectifier harness with no rewiring or adaptation of any kind.
The unit is built on the highest grade lamination materials and wound with the highest grade copper winding, insulated to resist 200 degrees Celsius. That is the specification that matters on a forty-year-old air-cooled four: stators of this era very rarely fail because the copper breaks, they fail because decades of heat cycling degrade the winding insulation until one phase shorts to the laminated core, at which point the bike will run on the battery and then go flat. A modern high-temperature winding gives the replacement a much larger thermal margin than the original ever had. The connector and rubber grommet are supplied with the unit so the harness joint can be made up properly and sealed on reassembly. Every unit is tested before it is shipped.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit without any modification?
Yes. It is a direct replacement for the original unit on the Kawasaki KZ 650 and KZ 750, 1980-1985, and installation is plug-and-play and direct fit using the standard mounting points and the standard connector. No cutting, splicing or drilling is required.
What is included in the box?
You receive the stator complete with its connector and the rubber grommet.
How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
Unplug the stator and measure between each pair of the three Yellow wires. Every reading should come out at 0.4 ohms +/-20% and the three should match closely. Then measure from each Yellow wire to the engine casing or stator body - a healthy stator reads O.L. on the display there. A phase that reads open circuit, a phase noticeably lower than the other two, or any continuity to earth confirms the stator has failed and needs replacing.
Should I check anything else while the cover is off?
It is worth inspecting the harness connector and the wiring where it passes through the grommet. On machines of this age the plug terminals are often corroded or heat-damaged, and a poor connection at that joint raises resistance in the charging circuit and can shorten the life of a new stator. A new connector and grommet are supplied with this unit so that joint can be made up fresh.
