This is a brand new aftermarket stator for the Kawasaki KLX 140, built as a direct replacement for the original unit. How do I tell whether my old stator has failed?
With the engine off and the plugs disconnected, measure from the white wire to ground - a healthy unit reads approximately 1.1 ohms +/- 20%. Then measure the pickup from blue/yellow to ground, which should read approximately 119 ohms +/- 20%. An open circuit or a reading well outside those tolerances confirms the unit has failed.
Which OEM number should my original unit carry?
Either 21003-0066 or 21003-0116. Both Kawasaki numbers are covered by this single replacement across the KLX 140 range, so check the number stamped on your original stator against the cross reference table above before ordering.
