All three share the same parallel twin platform and the same charging winding, so a single part covers the range. It is a direct replacement for the original unit and restores full charging output on a machine that is running its battery down.
Installation is plug-and-play and a direct fit, with the connector and rubber grommet included so nothing has to be cut or spliced. How can I tell my old stator has failed?
Unplug the stator and measure between each pair of the three wires with a multimeter. Each pair should read about 0.4 ohms, within plus or minus 20 percent. Then check each wire against the engine case, which should read open circuit. A pair reading open, or any wire with continuity to ground, confirms a failed winding. A battery going flat on a ride, or a charging voltage that stays at battery level with the engine running, are the common symptoms.
Does one stator really fit the ER-6N, Ninja 650 R and Versys 650?
Yes. All three models use the same 649 cc parallel twin engine and the same charging winding, which cross-references to Kawasaki 21003-0041 and 21003-0042. Check the number on your original unit against those before ordering.
