This is a brand new aftermarket generator stator, built as a direct replacement for the original charging unit on the 2000 and 2001 Kawasaki ZX-12R. It is a plug-and-play, direct fit part, so the original loom stays untouched and the repair is a straightforward stator cover job rather than an electrical rebuild. How do I know my old stator is the problem?
Unplug the stator and measure across the brown alternator wires. A healthy winding reads about 0.4 ohms between each pair, within plus or minus 20 percent. An open circuit or a near-zero reading means a broken or shorted winding. Also check each brown wire against a bare part of the engine casing - any continuity to ground confirms the stator has failed and must be replaced.
Will this fit a 2002 or 2003 ZX-12R?
No. This part covers the 2000 and 2001 ZX-12R only. The later bikes use a physically different stator with different dimensions, so check the model year before ordering.
