A brand new pick-up pulsar coil for the 2004 to 2006 Arctic Cat 650 4x4 Auto and V-Twin, supplied so that you can repair the stator you already have. The pulsar coil is the trigger that tells the ignition where the crankshaft is: as the flywheel turns, a raised reluctor passes the coil and induces a small pulse, and the CDI or ECU uses the timing of that pulse to decide exactly when to fire the plug. Get no pulse and you get no spark, no matter how healthy the rest of the ignition is.
Pulsar coils fail for mundane reasons: the fine winding goes open circuit, the potting cracks and lets moisture in, or the lead chafes through where it passes the grommet. This replacement is built to the original dimensions of 25 mm long by 22 mm wide by 19 mm high, with 35 mm between the bracket centres and the correct 140 mm run from coil to grommet followed by 660 mm from grommet to plug, so the lead reaches the original connector without stretching or bunching. Every coil is tested before dispatch, and this part is often unavailable from the original manufacturer.

Will it fit without modifying the machine?
Yes, on the 2004 to 2006 Arctic Cat 650 4x4 Auto and V-Twin. The 35 mm bracket centres put the coil in the original position and the two wire runs are cut to the original 140 mm and 660 mm lengths, so the lead follows the standard route through the grommet to the standard plug. No drilling or re-routing is required.
What is included?
You receive the pick-up pulsar coil with its lead and grommet run. The stator plate, flywheel and cover gasket are not supplied, since this is a repair part for the stator already fitted to your quad.
How do I know my pulsar coil has failed?
No spark at all, a spark that cuts out once the engine warms up, or an engine that turns over strongly but never fires are the usual signs. Disconnect the plug and measure between the blue and white wires: a healthy coil reads about 125 ohms, within 20 per cent either way. An open circuit, or continuity from either wire to the stator core, confirms the coil rather than the CDI.
Do I need a whole new stator?
Usually not. The pulsar coil is a separate component bolted to the stator plate, so when it is the part that has failed you can fit this coil and leave the charging windings, flywheel and plate alone.
