This is a brand new pick-up pulsar coil for repairing the stator on a wide range of Honda, Polaris and Suzuki machines built between 1984 and 2009. The pick-up coil is the trigger sensor that tells the ignition when to fire, and it is a common failure point on machines of this age. A failed coil gives you an engine that cranks strongly but produces no spark, or a spark that vanishes once the engine is warm.
The coil measures 18 mm long, 22 mm wide and 25 mm high, with 35 mm between the bracket centres and a 90 mm two-wire lead. Resistance measured from the pink or red wire to the white wire is 125 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent, which lets you test your original with a multimeter before ordering. Will this fit without modification?
It uses the same 35 mm bracket spacing as the original coil on the listed applications. Because this one part covers Honda, Polaris and Suzuki machines across a long production span, the safest check is to match the number stamped on your existing coil against the cross reference table before ordering.
What is included?
You receive the pick-up coil with its 90 mm two-wire lead. The stator windings, the flywheel and any gaskets or seals are not included.
How do I know my pick-up coil has failed?
Measure the resistance from the pink or red wire to the white wire. A healthy coil reads 125 ohms plus or minus 20 per cent. An open circuit or a reading well outside that band confirms the coil has failed. Symptoms are no spark on cranking, or a spark that disappears as the engine heats up.
Why is the wire lead so short?
The lead is 90 mm because this coil is designed to be joined into the existing stator harness rather than run all the way to the CDI. Plan for a soldered or crimped joint at the original splice point and insulate it properly against oil and heat.
